A fresh look for B\\DK

You may have noticed it: B\\DK has gained a couple of reverse slashes in its name. The website has taken an entirely new direction, too. And HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment & Quality) is even more central than ever. Everything has been very carefully thought through, says Inge De Kerf, managing director. “Clients and candidates can now feel even more at home with us.”

B\\DK opts intentionally for a sustainable approach

Inge De Kerf, managing director of B\\DK, is currently attending a series of lectures on ‘psychology for sustainability’. She’s doing it in Utrecht at Impact Academy, along with forty other sustainability specialists, all honing their knowledge about today’s sustainability challenges.

Why a retained Executive Search bureau is not a ‘no cure, no pay’ agency

“Do you work on a no cure, no pay basis?” That’s the question we hear frequently when we introduce ourselves to potential clients. And the answer is “no”. Because our services are very different. And we’re happy to explain why. Fancy a sneak preview?

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year

During the Christmas season, we have the opportunity to look back an a great year and to thank the people who have contributed to our business. We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the loyalty and support you have shown us throughout 2017.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a peaceful, prosperous New Year, and we look forward to continue working with you in 2018.

BDK Nieuwe Website
A fresh look for B\\DK

You may have noticed it: B\\DK has gained a couple of reverse slashes in its name. The website has taken an entirely new direction, too. And HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment & Quality) is even more central than ever. Everything has been very carefully thought through, says Inge De Kerf, managing director. “Clients and candidates can now feel even more at home with us.”

Every organisation would do well to look at itself under the microscope regularly. Which is exactly what executive search bureau B\\DK has done. What did it find? “We needed to be honest with ourselves. HSEQ is what drives us on. We know that from the 20 years we have been in business. We want everyone to know us as the market leader in executive search for HSEQ.”

Why HSEQ?

“Because HSEQ is a specialist field that we know through and through. You’ll always see us at HSEQ events. What appeals to us most is the change of behaviour that jobs bring with them. How can you urge people to work more safely, more efficiently and more sustainably? How do you increase wellbeing in the workplace? These are the fundamental things that have such a big impact on business, people and society as a whole. For B\\DK it’s an honour to be able to make a contribution in this area. How do we do it? We connect the right people with interesting companies.”

 What makes  B\\DK so strong?

B\\DK is just a small team. Intentionally. “We stand out from agencies that have assistants and juniors – and also from agencies that position themselves as specialists in everything. We have deliberately opted to stay small. We know where our strengths lie and we use them to provide a genuinely personal service. We only do what we do well – and what we enjoy doing. That is something that experience has taught us.”

Just that little bit more

B\\DK’s communication has also been given a thorough facelift. “We have adapted our look-and-feel to bring it in line with our professional approach. Integrity and discretion are still important, but we are also stylish and warm. As is our office. And what about those two additional stripes in our name? They show that we always work in tandem. They also indicate that we give just that little bit more in everything we do.”

BDK Duurzame Aanpak
B\\DK opts intentionally for a sustainable approach

Inge De Kerf, managing director of B\\DK, is currently attending a series of lectures on ‘psychology for sustainability’. She’s doing it in Utrecht at Impact Academy, along with forty other sustainability specialists, all honing their knowledge about today’s sustainability challenges.

This pithy series of talks is along the lines of the e-book‘Psychology for a better world – strategies for sustainable actions’, translated by Lars Moratis, professor at Antwerp Management School. The topics on offer all deal with how to mobilise people and make them aware of the need to genuinely speed up sustainability. And it is precisely this change in behaviour that is so enthralling for B\\DK.

Speakers include George Marshall on the human brain and climate change, Dr Annick Hedlund-de Witt on the psychology of identity and world views, and Fran Bambust on the levers for behavioural change and working with the psychology of sustainability.

It was demand from clients and its own interest in the topic that prompted B\\DK to become involved with sustainability. Together with IDC, B\\DK has broadened its views and worked on a plan to develop and implement a range of sustainability efforts and programmes. Read more about them here.

BDK Executive Search
Why a retained Executive Search bureau is not a ‘no cure, no pay’ agency

“Do you work on a no cure, no pay basis?” That’s the question we hear frequently when we introduce ourselves to potential clients. And the answer is “no”. Because our services are very different. And we’re happy to explain why. Fancy a sneak preview?

Executive Search, or head hunting, is a specialised method of recruitment. We track down suitable candidates for senior positions or for other highly specialised posts. These are usually what you might call ‘rare’ appointments on the jobs market. The candidates themselves are not usually looking for a new job. As a result, they can be difficult to persuade to make a move. Which in turn makes these positions difficult to fill.

How we differ from no cure, no pay

A retained Executive Search bureau differs from no cure, no pay agencies because we work on the basis of a start-up fee at the outset. This means the client and the bureau agree a fixed amount before beginning work. The fee itself is based on the degree of difficulty in finding the person required. Agreeing a fee in advance also guarantees clarity for the client. So there are no unpleasant surprises. Making everyone a winner.

Features of retained executive search

  • Working on an exclusive, client-focused basis.
  • Carrying out a limited number of assignments at the same time to guarantee quality.
  • Involvement in all aspects in the search process: from defining a carefully tailored search process, right through to settling the candidate into his/her new job.
  • Using the full spectrum of active and also passive candidates on the market. Taking a long-term view. We continue to monitor the candidate once he/she has the job.
  • Representing clients confidentially.

Trust is key

Executive Search is all about trust. In working with clients as well as with candidates. People don’t want recruiters going to market with their CV if they don’t know which companies their application will be presented to. This often happens with agencies that are not working on a vacancy as an exclusive. It’s unprofessional. It also demonstrates to the market that the client is not prepared to invest properly in a professional, discreet Executive Search approach.

 How do we work?

We are a retained Executive Search bureau. And we go a lot further than merely looking for the right candidate for a vacant job. What we do is look for the perfect match between the corporate culture of our client and the DNA of the candidate. This enables us to work with clients on a long-term basis. And it’s a system that works!
